Our whole economy is hampered by poor productivity, low entrepreneurship and a critical lack of economic diversity.
We export rocks and import everything else.
Flexiweek will deliver more public services and supercharge the economy.
(Excluding Conservative Electorates – see One Country, Two Systems)
Weekends when you want
Citizens to choose the days for their weekend. It does does not have to be Saturday & Sunday.

Two 4-day education weeks are proposed with longer hours per day than now. On Thursday both A and B students are on campus for assemblies and sport.
30 Days annual leave when you want
Everyone gets ten days added to their annual leave entitlements instead of being ordered by the government to take particular days off.
Non-Christians could swap Christ-mass for some other day of their choosing.
Religious persons may choose days relevant to their religion. Other persons may choose days relevant to them, like cup day. (Australia Day to move to 9th of May1 )
Families should set aside important birthdays, weddings and christenings.
Recreational activities which are better kept separate can be steered towards different days, the above is one option.
Flexiweek benefits
- Immediate 20 to 30% boost in productivity.
- Australia is a better place to employ labour and locate capital equipment.
- All services are available every day (leveraging our multicultural communities).
- Utilisation of hospitals, schools, roads, trains, trams, buses, factories, parks & beaches are all optimised saving billions.
- Significant transport emissions savings when coupled with the right to Work From Home where that is reasonable.
- Enhanced productivity in the defence sector leading to stronger defence at a lower cost.
Penalty Rates → Standard Pay
Since one day is now the same as any other it doesn’t make sense to pay penalty rates for particular days.
What was paid as penalty rates must be added to regular wages for workers participating in Flexiweek.
The minimum wage would also be increased for workers using Flexiweek.
WFH as a right
We also advocate Work From Home as a right where feasible.
- Reduce transport emissions
- More family-friendly
- More flexible for business
- Tax system to favour 4 days / week rather than 5 to help share available work around.
20% to 30% Productivity Boost
The gains vary by sector and State but there is a large gain in capital utilisation with Flexiweek.
